Margarito extends a helping hand to Olympic hopefuls

Apart from being busy preparing with his trainer Robert Garcia in Oxnard, California for the most important fight of his life on November 13 against Filipino boxing sensation Manny Pacquiao, Antonio Margarito has also taken the role of being the benefactor to some young Olympic hopefuls' Olympic aspirations.

When Margarito heard about the struggles of the families of four Olympic aspirants to send them to the 2010 National PAL Boxing Championships in San Antonio, Texas, the "Tijuana Tornado" stepped in, and in an act of kindness, wrote a check to help cover the cost for the kids to pursue their Olympic boxing dreams. When asked why he did it Margarito said, "I've been there. I know what it's like to have a dream crushed because you have no money". The families tried to sell tamales, tortillas and bracelets to raise funds but their hard work produced less than $300.00, so Margarito's helping hand definitely goes a long way.
